2 | WHERE TO STAY
(Lodging)
When planning your lodging, don't forget that there are several lodging choices in
addition to that of the traditional hotel / motel such as a Bed and Breakfast, Home Exchange, Hostel, or
Campground.
The hotel pictured above is The Rimrock Resort Hotel located about 3 miles from downtown Banff,
Alberta. This was the incredible view we had from our hotel window. If you can afford to get a room
with a balcony overlooking this valley, it would be worth every cent to be able to sit outside to enjoy
this vista!
If you are looking for a good alcoholic beverage, be sure to visit the hotel bar. I had a
Pomegranate Martini here that is the best I have ever had.
Banff is a beautiful place for hiking. The wildlife was plentiful and easy to photograph
(always be careful of how close you approach the wildlife; telephoto
lenses are a must). We had the opportunity to see Bighorn sheep and elk in one afternoon
along with some beautiful mountain lake and river views.
The town of Banff was a delight for dining and shopping. It was on this trip that I discovered
the Icebreaker brand of outdoor apparel made of Merino wool, which was
perfect for the climate in Banff and Lake Louise. Click HERE to read more about this amazing fiber.
