    Take proof of insurance with you 
        
            
                Check to see if you have any coverage outside of the U.S. (or wherever your home is). If not, check
                into travel insurance for medical protection
            
            
                Write down your medical condition(s), all prescriptions, all allergies, and your
                physician's name & contact information on a piece of paper and keep in your wallet or with your
                passport.
            
            
                Make sure you have had a recent physical as well as dental exam LONG BEFORE you leave
                in case anything needs attention. Nothing worse than getting a toothache or having a physical
                problem in a foreign country that could have been attended to before leaving!
